WYOMING \u2013\u00a0A bill that would have created a statewide lodging tax failed in the Senate this afternoon. The Senate failed to pass HB66 today at third reading on a 7-19 vote with three senators and one excused. It was a surprise for a bill that appeared to have widespread support since it passed out of House committee the House 44-16 on third reading, and passed two readings on the floor of the Senate. Ultimately, it appears, conservative thinking won out as a notoriously anti-tax state saw its lawmakers flinch in the home stretch. Local senators split on their opinions. Sen. Mike Gierau voted for the bill. Sen Dan Dockstader voted against it.
