JACKSON, Wyo. — Stephan Abrams is joining in the race for a second term as School Board Trustee, telling Buckrail that he wants to continue work he has found meaningful over the past four years. Abrams said serving on the board lets him contribute to the community: “I’m there for all the kids.”

Abrams said his priorities lie with securing funding for the high school addition and staff wages that keep pace with the high cost of living in Jackson. He also wants to advocate for more local control over state funding.

He favors block grants, which let the district decide how to use a lump sum, over “silo” funding, which restricts money to specific uses, such as salaries. Abrams said those restrictions have limited the district’s ability to support benefits for staff and their families.

“I’d love to see how the school board can [find ways to] offer more affordable housing opportunities [for staff] as well.”

Abrams is running against Reade Dornan, Keith Gingery and Ashley Sinclair. There are three seats available for School Board Trustee.
