JACKSON, Wyo. — The new Jackson Hole History Museum opened its doors to visitors on Saturday, June 29, ushering in hundreds of people ready to check out the new space.

Museum staff told Buckrail that they stopped counting visitors once they hit 1,000. The museum was free to enter for its opening day.
Revelers celebrated opening day with a traditional shivaree, using bells and noisemakers to christen the new space. Attendees also enjoyed live music and free beer on the museum’s second-floor deck.
Plans for the new building were presented in 2021. Along with the museum’s relocation from its former home on Cache Street, the Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum has updated its name to simply History Jackson Hole.
