JACKSON, Wyo. — The American Legion Post No. 43 held its annual Memorial Day gathering on Jackson’s Town Square on Monday, May 27.
Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer was in attendance to capture the ceremony.

The observation of Memorial Day dates back to 1868, three years after the Civil War ended, and was called Decoration Day as the nation decorated the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers.

Last week, Wyoming Senators Cynthia Lummis and John Barrasso introduced a resolution to the Senate honoring the crew of the Star Valley, a U.S. Army Air Corps B-24 Liberator that crashed in France during World War II. It was named in honor of a soldier from Afton, WY.
