JACKSON, Wyo. — Community members have been rolling up their sleeves in an effort to help tidy up streets, yards, parks, waterways, pathways and open spaces in Jackson Hole.

For those who want to spruce up their yards, Spring Clean Up Week goes until Saturday, May 10. People can also help to beautify downtown Jackson during the annual Spring Clean Up Day hosted by the lunch Rotary Club of Jackson Hole on Saturday, May 10. Participants can meet at Phil Baux Park at 8 a.m. for coffee, breakfast snacks, gloves, safety vests and assignments.

For those unable to join this Saturday, people are invited to sign up for a cleaning shift by emailing jhcleanup@gmail.com.

On Wednesday, Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer spied a group of helpful community members in orange vests picking up trash along US89. The mounds of filled trash bags were only a portion of the waste that accumulated roadside during the long winter months.

This Saturday is the last day for residents to dispose of branches, grass clippings, leaves, garden trimmings and other compostable yard waste for free at the Teton County Trash Transfer Station. All collected materials will be composted locally, turning organic waste into nutrient-rich compost products. Commercial loads are not eligible.

Residents can also, for one day only, bring their residential yard waste to the Teton County Fairgrounds on Friday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. According to Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling, drop-offs before and after that timeframe are not allowed.
