JACKSON, Wyo. — Community members and first responders gathered on Town Square on Thursday morning for an annual remembrance ceremony honoring the lives lost to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer was on the scene to document the event. Opening remarks were delivered by Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Chaplain Ben Nardi, followed by a tribute given by Deputy Chief Brian Coe.
The ceremony included a moment of silence to recognize the time that the first tower was hit.

“Today we remember the 343 firefighters, 23 police officers and 37 Port Authority officers who lost their lives on 9/11,” the Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Foundation posted to social media following the ceremony. “We honor their sacrifice, courage and the resilience of all who served. Never forget. Thank you to those who attended the 9/11 Morning Memorial.”

In addition to the morning ceremony, the Hill Climb for the Fallen will take place between 3:43 and 7 p.m. today. The symbolic start time of 3:43 p.m. is in honor of the 343 firefighters who died that day. All are welcome to participate in the Snow King hill climb, which represents the 110 stories of the Twin Towers.
