JACKSON, Wyo. — According to the Snake River Fund (SRF), construction on the Highway 89 bridge just north of Hoback Junction has created a temporary rapid where once there was flatwater.

A significant river constriction and boulder placement has formed a powerful wave just upstream of the Highway 89/KOA/Horse Creek bridge.

“Use caution when floating below South Park,” SRF said. “Always wear a PFD when recreating in a moving water environment. Early season conditions exist and cold water preparedness is a must for safe recreation.”
