JACKSON, Wyo. — The race to represent a large swath of Teton County in the Wyoming House of Representatives is heating up. Republican Shannon Brennan will run against incumbent Democrat Liz Storer in this year’s election.
The Moran resident is an energy and environmental consultant with 35 years of governmental experience with the U.S. Department of Energy, Dept. of the Treasury, Dept. of Health and Human Services, and other federal and state agencies. She has served on boards at St. John’s Health and on the Teton District Board of Health along with the Governor’s Groundwater Advisory Committee. In a conversation with Buckrail, Brennan laid out her campaign priorities: conservation and land use, affordability, health care, housing, mineral extraction, elder care and education.
“I want to create new and I want to push people into talking and finding their common ground and actually developing stronger closer relationships,” Brennan told Buckrail. “When I saw the division in the legislature during this last budget session, I saw room for improvement. I spent 35 years working in government; I feel like I’m in the zone.”
Brennan sees issues of environment, quality of life and affordability as all intertwined. If elected, she intends to work with electeds from elsewhere in the state to make sure Teton County’s voices are heard in public lands discussions.
“I have dedicated my professional life to public service and the execution of the law,” she said in a press release. “Now I would like to help make the law.”
District 23 covers a lot of ground, including: Skyline/Hi-Country/Gros Ventre Butte, North Jackson, Mid Jackson – Hillside, Rafter J, Southeast of Jackson/East Hoback, Indian Trails, Kelly/Moose/Airport, Moran, Moose/Wilson Road, Teton Village/Moose/Wilson Road and Alta.
