JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County School District #1 (TCSD) is investigating a “makeshift treehouse structure” discovered on district property that contains graffiti including anti-Semitic messages and racial slurs, according to a public statement issued by the district on Friday, May 23.
“This hateful and discriminatory behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” TCSD’s statement reads.
The structure is under investigation by the district, which has involved local law enforcement.
“We are committed to holding those responsible accountable,” TCSD’s statement reads. “To those in our community who may be hurt or affected by this incident, we see you, we support you, and we are here for you. Please reach out to your school principal or counselor so we can provide support and appropriate resources.”
TCSD encourages community members to come forward with any information.
“Our schools—and our community—must be places where every individual feels safe, valued, and respected,” the statement reads. “We reaffirm our commitment to fostering a culture of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Hate has no place here.”
This is a developing story. Buckrail will provide updates as information becomes available.
