JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Airport board will hear an application from Wind River Air, LLC at its next meeting April 17.

Wind River Air (WRA), owned by Tony Chambers, submitted a formal application in March to operate based out of JH Airport after pulling it from the agenda in December after community pushback.

The airport board also delayed consideration until WRA consulted with Grand Teton NP, the Elk Refuge, the Town of Jackson and Teton County. On December 18, 2019 the airport board directed staff to revisit over the next 60 days anything that could be done to prevent scenic helicopter tours from the airport.

Wyoming’s Congressional delegation was consulted, and the FAA was asked to re-evaluate the safety of the operations. The FAA responded that WRA’s proposed operations met all application safety standards.

The airport board was scheduled to discuss the application last month but the matter was tabled over fears that COVID restrictions would prevent a robust public participation.

The April 17 airport board meeting will be held at the County Chambers. Board members will attend remotely via Zoom, with limited staff physically present.

The meeting can be watched online. Public comment can be made by email.
