JACKSON, Wyo. — Tony Chambers, owner of Wind River Air, has officially submitted in a permit request to appear on the March 18, 2020 agenda for the Jackson Hole Airport Board. He intends to submit a formal application to use the airport as the base of Jackson Hole operations.

Knowing that this particular item is important to many people, organizations, and stakeholders in the community, the JH Airport Board has decided to hold this meeting at the airport fire station. This new location will allow the Airport Board to accommodate a larger number of both audience members and public commenters.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a letter last month to the JH Airport Board. This letter was in reply to the letter of concern written by the JH Airport Board to the Denver Flight Standards District Office on December 27, 2019, stating safety as the main issue with the proposed helicopter tours sought by Wind River Air, LLC.

The FAA letter reinstates the fact that Chambers of Wind River Air, LLC has already obtained approval from their agency and could begin operating anytime. The FAA further stated they “consider this matter closed.”

“JH Airport Board members are passionate about this community and share many of the same thoughts and values when it comes to the proposed helicopter tours. We have received clear communication from the FAA that legally, we have to permit this type of aviation activity in order to comply with Federal Regulations,” stated Jackson Hole Airport Board President, Jerry Blann.

The JH Airport Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18 at 9 a.m. It will be held at the Airport Fire House. Free parking will be provided in any of the parking lots.
