JACKSON, WY — Residents of the Saddle Butte Subdivision can return home at 8 p.m. tonight.
A unified command led by Bridger-Teton National Forest Dave Wilkins and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Mike Moyer have determined fire conditions on Saddle Butte are safe enough for residents to return home, but no sooner than 8 p.m.
“We are at 100% containment and feel comfortable with rescinding the evacuation order this evening,” Wilkins said.
Residents of Saddle Butte Subdivisions have been evacuated since Sunday afternoon, shortly after the Saddle Butte Fire started from a bundle of mylar balloons entangled in a power line.
Only local traffic will be allowed up the private road. Teton County asks residents to please not line up at Saddle Butte Drive before 8 p.m., as it will impact firefighters’ ability to complete necessary work today and will delay reentry.
“We are appreciative that the homeowners have been very patient with our need to keep the evacuation order in place for the safety of the firefighters and the homeowners,” said Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Chief Brady Hansen.
This is an active incident and fire crews will continue to work in the area throughout the week, so residents are asked to use caution and drive slowly.
