JACKSON, Wyo. - Though it has appeared dormant since it was fully contained September 4, Jackson Hole Fire\/EMS has still been actively monitoring the Saddle Butte Fire. But thanks to this week's heavy rain, the fire has officially been declared "out" as of yesterday afternoon. No smoke has been reported since Saturday afternoon, so Saddle Butte Incident Commander, Jackson Hole Fire\/MES Battalion Chief Brian Coe, made the call at around 4:45 p.m. yesterday. The declaration means incident command for the Saddle Butte Fire is now terminated and fire personnel will no longer actively monitor the area. Potential hazards still exist in the burn area, and extreme caution should be used by property owners. If hazards to life or property are noted, the public is asked to call 9-1-1 to report an emergency.
