Rock Springs cancels fireworks for Fourth Fireworks Fourth of July Celebration Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

WYOMING – The city of Rock Springs will have no fireworks show for this Fourth of July due to budget cuts. The city council slashed the budget by some 30 percent. Sales tax collections are down and state funding cuts are weighing heavily on the city.

The Rock Springs Civic Center is in charge of providing the fireworks show. It normally hires out to a private company. As part of its $650,000 belt-tightening measures, the center decided to cut the $25,000 they had budgeted for this year’s pyrotechnics and may do the same for 2018 when FY2018 budget is approved later this month.
