JACKSON, Wyo. — Now that winter is (mostly) over, it’s time for the next season to begin: road construction. The Town of Jackson (TOJ) crews have been working on a few different projects that may delay traffic or reroute cars.
According to a Construction Notification shared with residents in the area, the 2025 Spring Street Patching and Overlay project includes grating and paving on South Willow Street and Snow King Ave.
Resurfacing the roads is an “annual project by the Town of Jackson,” said Ish Jimenez, associate engineer for TOJ. “We have a way of assessing which streets need repair every year, and from there we put the projects out to bid.”
TOJ Engineering, which put out the notification, acknowledged that the work is weather dependent. The forecast of rain and frozen precipitation could impact the schedule.
This week, work continued on South Willow Street, which has been closed from East Simpson Ave. to East Snow King Ave, as crews repair gutter pans and re-pave. Snow King Ave. is also closed from South Cache Street to Flat Creek Drive, while crews work on grating and paving. Firm end dates for these projects were not confirmed by press time. Kelly Ave. or Broadway Ave. are suggested as detours for east or westbound drivers and bikers.

Floren Poliseo, director of Public Works, acknowledged the bump in roadwork around town: “Part of the pinch is when we have increased private property development, as well as public. … It feels like we are in high construction season and it’s only spring.”
Crews planned to begin patching potholes at various locations around town beginning Wednesday, May 14, also depending on weather. They warn drivers to expect traffic control flagging, lane closures and detours.
All patch repairs are expected to be finished by May 23.
TOJ patches 300 to 400 potholes every year, and they mill and re-pave about 50,000 square feet of roadway. These repairs cannot begin until temperatures are consistently warm, as freeze-and-thaw cycles do not allow the patches to hold. To learn more about the town’s road projects, click here.
