GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — Thinking of using artificial intelligence (AI) to plan a trip to Grand Teton National Park (GTNP)?
While AI can be a helpful planning tool, GTNP recommends using it as a starting point, and taking the time to verify all of the details. In a Friday social media post, GTNP reminds visitors that AI doesn’t necessarily share up-to-date information. And sometimes it could direct users to the wrong trail.
“Your safety is your responsibility,” GTNP wrote. “The best adventures start with good information, so check the official park website or stop by a visitor center to talk with a ranger before you hit the trail.”
This summer, many parts of the national park are undergoing construction work and improvements. The park recommends confirming details with verified sources — details like trail distances and conditions, water availability, parking locations, and current conditions and closures. GTNP offers its website for easy-to-follow trip itineraries for short or long stays.
Anyone interested in planning a backcountry trip in the park is encouraged to stop by the permit desk inside the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center or the Colter Bay Visitor Center. Calling GTNP ahead of time is also a good way to get current information and updates from a real person.
