JACKSON, Wyo. — Construction of the new playground at Mike Yokel Park has been completed, and it will open to the public on Monday following a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

The playground at the popular Kelly Street park closed in November 2024 for a full overhaul of the equipment. After delays due to missing parts, the play structure is finally ready to welcome back neighborhood kids.

Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation announced on Friday that the ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Monday, Aug. 25, at 5 p.m., with project donors, elected officials, department staff and contractors in attendance. After the ceremony, the playground will officially open to the public.

“We are grateful to the family who donated funds to make this project possible,” said Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Director Tyler Florence. “They wanted to bring a modern and safe playground with features that encourage children to collaborate, play together and challenge one another in a fun and engaging environment.”

The modern structure offers three towers with slides, a rotational play feature, a zipline and a new swing set.

“We’re very excited for this new and engaging playground to be used by children in our community for many years to come,” said Florence.

Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation thanked the community for its patience during the construction period.
