JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation (TCJPR) announced that an overhaul of the Mike Yokel Park playground is underway as of Thursday, Nov. 7.

The current playground structures in the park are being removed beginning today, making way for a “new, modern play structure designed to enhance the park’s appeal and longevity,” the announcement reads. The new park will feature a zipline, a new swing set, a rotational play structure and three large, interconnected tower structures with “various slides.”

Contractors are first looking at selective tree removal and potential water line relocation, TCJPR said. Work will be weather-dependent and might “fluctuate in scope and timeline.”

While structure removal and installation is being done, the playground area at Mike Yokel should be treated like an active construction zone; the public is asked to avoid areas marked by construction fencing. Be aware of equipment traveling to and from the park from E. Hall Ave.

The project is expected to be finished in the spring.
