JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson kids still have to wait for the much-anticipated opening of Mike Yokel playground. Even though a climbing structure and spiral slide might appear play-ready, the Town of Jackson confirmed to Buckrail on Wednesday, July 9, that construction has been delayed.

Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation originally planned for the Mike Yokel Playground Replacement Project to be completed in June, bringing the community a more modern and expansive play structure.

According to the Town, construction is delayed due to the complexity of the structure and missing or mislabeled parts, which the contractor is sorting out with the supplier. The remaining work on the play area includes finishing the assembly of the structure, pouring concrete around the footings, stripping the forms and installing the wood fiber. The contractor has not yet provided a completion date.
