STAR VALLEY – The Bridger-Teton National Forest in conjunction with The Central Federal Highways announced a contractor has been selected to fix the portion of Greys River Road destroyed last winter.

Work will begin immediately as heavy equipment will start rolling in. This could cause intermittent closures throughout the project schedule—expected to run until snow flies.

A portion of Greys River Road was obliterated back in February after a landslide near Porcupine Creek.

The construction contract was awarded to AAA Building Services Inc. from Powell, Wyoming.

Recreationists along the Greys River Road, beginning approximately 17 miles from Alpine, will encounter reduced road speeds and flaggers throughout the construction area. Workers will allow traffic through as possible.

The funding for the reconstruction was awarded through Central Federal Highways as Environmental Relief for Federally Owned Roads (ERFO) funding, in the amount of $3.2 million dollars.

“Reconstruction on the Porcupine Landslide is our first priority, however restoring access through the Blind Bull Landslide is very important to us and we are considering the possibilities of commencing work on the Blind Bull Landslide in congruence with the reconstruction work taking place on the Porcupine Landside,” said Greys River District Ranger Justin Laycock.

The Blind Bull landslide has been awarded $1 million in ERFO funds for that project.
