JACKSON HOLE, WYO – An update from Friends of Pathways indicates while much of the paved bike paths in and around town are usable and in early-season form, as many trails in forested areas are still in hiding.

First, the good news. The little piece of singletrack next to the Von Gontard pathway, which goes south from Melody Ranch to Game Creek, is dry. The North 89 Pathway alongside the Elk Refuge is open now ahead of schedule.

Elsewhere, the little trail on the butte from the Nelson Drive Trailhead is dry, and some of the first section of Putt-Putt is dry. It would be okay for hiking, but there is too much snow still for running on most of it and far too much snow to think about biking yet.

All the trails from the Cache Creek trailhead are quite snowy still as well.
