JACKSON, Wyo. — Avid pathway users can thank spring weather for opening up earlier access to a popular route.
Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation announced that the pathway north of town that runs along US89 will open to cyclists and pedestrians on Saturday, April 19. The pathway closes annually from Nov. 1 through April 30 to protect animals on the National Elk Refuge from human disturbance. This year, periods of warmer weather have allowed for an earlier lifting of the closure.
“As wildlife continues to migrate from the National Elk Refuge, please take caution when using the pathway and give wildlife the right-of-way,” Teton County said via press release.
Other local wildlife closures remain in place until Thursday, May 1, per the County. Learn more about those on the Teton Conservation District’s website.
