JACKSON, Wyo. – Teton County Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling (ISWR) is reminding the public about the importance of keeping community recycling sites from overflowing.
According to ISWR, leaving recyclables on the ground is considered litter and improperly disposed items could attract wildlife. Additionally, ISWR is currently experiencing staffing constraints, and materials improperly disposed of lead to increased inefficiencies, added stress on staff and avoidable time spent by staff cleaning up the litter.
“Please refrain from leaving recyclables on the ground beside recycling bins when the bins are full,” ISWR said in the announcement. “If recycling bins are full, do not leave recyclables on the ground, try a different Community Recycling Site, or hold on to your recyclables until the bins can be serviced.”
According to ISWR, community recycling sites throughout the county are located on private properties. ISWR urges residents to respect the property of site hosts and the services of Teton County ISWR.
“The actions of a few could jeopardize the future availability of these sites and a great service for our entire community,” ISWR said.
Community Recycling Sites are for residential use only (this includes residents in and out of Teton County as well as visitors). Community recycling sites do not have the capacity to serve businesses or commercial operations. Businesses should be utilizing the recycling bins available at the Recycling Center, to prevent community recycling containers from overflowing, which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During the busy summer season, it is especially important to conserve bin space by flattening cardboard boxes.
