HOBACK, Wyo. — Your weekend soundtrack couldn’t get more roots-Wyoming than The WyoFolk Project. Released today to major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Hi-Res Lossless, the anticipated compilation album features fourteen previously unreleased songs by fourteen of Wyoming’s celebrated songwriters, with contributions from thirty-four session musicians. The 55-minute offering borders singer-songwriter, alt- and indie-folk, classic and alt-country, bluegrass, and Wyo-Americana with flourishes of blues and indie-rock.
The WyoFolk Project is a recording endeavor that was engineered from July to September 2022 at Three Hearted Recording Studio in Hoback, Wyoming. Recorded, produced and mixed by songwriter-session player Aaron Davis of bands Screen Door Porch and Aaron Davis & The Mystery Machine, the project was made possible by grant funding from the Wyoming Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming Legislature. The compilation was mastered by Jim Wilson (Dan Auerbach, Widespread Panic).
