JACKSON, Wyo. – Nine-year-old, Ellie Baker, with motivation from her furry friend, generously decided to give three months of her allowance to the Pet Place Plus dog food donation program.

“I shared my allowance with Pet Place Plus because I love my dog, Flash, like crazy and I want other dogs to be able to have food like he does,” Ellie explained. “He is a big white lab and he did help me decide to donate food.”

Pet Place Plus (PPP), a pet supply store in Jackson, has organized a way to help supply dog food to struggling pet owners who may be financially burdened during the quarantine.

Jessica Borneman, general manager of PPP, said her program has been successful in supplying dog food so far, “I feel confident that it got to those in need because I have received multiple phone calls a day of people thanking us, handwritten letters on our porch, and people calling in the parking lot asking if it is okay to take for themselves or people they know.”

The pet supply store first donated 800 lbs of dog food that ran out quickly. They are looking to keep adding to the pile with support from the community.

“Many of our customers have purchased bags to donate and others asking how they can help our effort,” Borneman explained. “So next month we are going to do a promotion where purchases of certain products will donate towards the food fund.”

“If we all donate just a tiny bit it can make the world better,” Said Ellie. “It can make a big difference.”
