JACKSON, Wyo. — Did you see it? The new Eat Wyoming trailer made its rounds in Jackson on Wednesday!
Central Wyoming College (CWC) partnered with the state-wide Eat Wyoming local food hub to increase local food market access for farmers and ranchers, and bring more Wyoming-grown food to our communities.
CWC purchased a combination refrigerated and freezer trailer and a truck to transport locally grown food products.
“The Eat Wyoming local food hub supports online retail orders through its website, and wholesale orders from restaurants and grocery stores,” said Melissa Hemken, the CWC community food system specialist.
“The Eat Wyoming team coordinates the aggregation and transportation of the ordered local food. Regional routes are driven daily across the state to pick up and deliver local food. Deliveries are made directly to wholesale accounts. Retail customers that order online can choose to pick up their order at a designated customer pick-up location or have it delivered to their home.”
CWC and Eat Wyoming partner with Slow Food in the Tetons in Jackson. The local food hub, with the truck and cold trailer or a refrigerated van, delivers local food products grown across the Cowboy State to Teton Slow Food’s Farm Stand. It also allows more Wyoming farmers and ranchers to list their food items on the Teton Slow Food Online Marketplace.
The Eat Wyoming local food hub also brings more Wyoming-grown to restaurant menus and grocery shelves in Jackson.
“We deliver to bodegas and delis, restaurants on the Square, chain grocery stores, and restaurants in the Village,” Hemken says. “Buying locally grown provides the freshest food, fuels resiliency in the Wyoming economy and food system, and supports our farmers, ranchers and communities. It’s Wyoming people for Wyoming people.”
