WYOMING — In honor of National Public Lands Day, admission fees will be waived at Wyoming’s national and state parks on Saturday, Sept. 23.
This means visitors can enter Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park for $0. State parks and historic sites in Wyoming will also waive admission fees.
“A goal of Public Lands Day is to get people out to Wyoming’s parks and historic sites to enjoy the values of public lands and to become stewards by helping with specific projects,” the press release from Wyoming State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails said. “Everyone is invited to check parks’ Facebook pages to see if there is an event near them.”
The holiday was established in 1994 and is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday in September. Thousands of volunteers observe the day by working to restore and improve public lands around the country.
This year’s theme is 30 Years of Care and Community.
Volunteers who donate their time on National Public Lands Day can receive a free national park one-day pass to visit any national park site. See the National Park Service website for details.
Saturday marks the fourth of five free admission days in the national parks. Admission has been waived on January 16 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, April 22 for the first day of National Park Week and August 4 for the Great American Outdoors Act anniversary. The last free day of 2023 will be Nov. 11, observing Veterans Day.
