YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — A Flood Watch is in effect for the rest of the day in Yellowstone National Park (YNP).

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the watch this morning for parts of northwest Wyoming, including all of YNP and the areas of Lake, Old Faithful and Mammoth. The Flood Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. this evening.

“Heavy rainfall from slow moving showers and thunderstorms may bring local flooding,” NWS stated.

Low-lying and flood-prone locations could be impacted by excessive runoff, which could flood rivers, creeks and streams.

“You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings,” NWS wrote. “Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.”
