WILSON, Wyo. — WY22 commuters, listen up.
Construction in the downtown Wilson corridor is set to begin on Monday, and is scheduled to continue through late fall. The creation of pathways on each side of the highway will strive to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists in the area. Evans Construction will kick things off by installing concrete barriers to delineate the project area. According to an announcement by the Teton BUILD Grant team, expect these project steps to unfold over the first few weeks:
- Initial survey work and utility marking ahead of major construction
- Installation of traffic control signs, cones, and barriers
- Temporary lane shifts, reduced speeds, and short delays
Work will take place on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Access to homes and businesses will “generally be maintained, but may be adjusted as work progresses,” per the announcement. Construction noise, dust and equipment movement will be part of the scene for the next few months. The project schedules could shift depending on the weather, material availability, or site conditions.
“Downtown Wilson businesses will remain accessible throughout construction, and the public is encouraged to continue supporting local shops, restaurants, and services,” the BUILD announcement reads. “Once underway, the downtown Wilson improvements will support safer and more connected travel for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, residents, businesses, and visitors.”
According to the BUILD Grant website, interested parties can sign up for emailed weekly updates with project progress, traffic information and schedule changes.
