MORAN, Wyo. — Owner and Operator of Heart Six Ranch Frank Chapman has announced his withdrawal from the race for Wyoming’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
On Thursday morning, Chapman announced that though his time as a candidate has come to an end, his commitment to Wyoming has not. He was one of 10 Republican candidates vying for the seat that will be vacated by Harriet Hageman, who is running for Wyoming’s open seat in the U.S. Senate. On Tuesday, the Wyoming Republican Party announced its endorsement of Wyoming’s current Secretary of State Chuck Gray in the House election.
“Public service must be about something larger than personal ambition,” Chapman wrote in an emailed statement. “In that spirit, after careful consideration and an honest assessment of the race with my family, I have decided to end my campaign for the United States House of Representatives.”
In his announcement, Chapman stated that he joined the race because he believes Wyoming deserves representation that will fight for shared values, protect public lands, secure a future for energy, and prioritize residents over outsiders and special interests. He said he has met extraordinary people across the state during his campaign, and he is grateful for those who welcomed him into their communities, attended events and offered advice.
“The truth is, I am not a politician,” Chapman wrote. “I am a father, a small-business owner, a rancher, and a guy who believes in hard work, common sense, and doing what is right. Frankly, wrangling horses is easier than wrangling politicians and special interests.”
Chapman said the people of Wyoming are “tenacious, independent, hardworking and unwilling to be pushed around.” He promised to continue standing with the people to demand accountability and honest answers from those in power, and to “make certain Washington never forgets that it works for the people of Wyoming — not the other way around.”
