JACKSON, Wyo. — COVID has put a damper on the annual BBQ fundraiser for Moran Station of Jackson Hole Fire/EMS. Volunteer Firefighters from Station 4 use the annual event for the bulk of their funding for the year.

“We were devastated to cancel it, as it’s a staple event of the community that has been going on for decades,” said Captain Phillip Lamoureux. “It always helps bring the folks that live north of town together in celebration of our community and of our station’s lifesaving volunteer work.”

The station hopes to raise funds with a different event this year. Volunteers came up with the idea of hosting a FireFighter Flix! A Drive-In Movie Night on Friday, September 11.

The event will be free to the public but the station hopes to receive donations that evening.

New recruit Samantha Strauss said, “I am a new volunteer recruit and have only been with the station since January. In that time period, I have met some of the most wonderful, selfless people of my life. Knowing that these kind humans are the ones who would respond to help me if I had an emergency makes me feel safer and prouder of the community that I live in. They are passionate about helping others–not only in emergency situations but also just by being good neighbors.”
