JACKSON, Wyo. — It’s moose calf season in the valley.

Two social media videos shared on Tuesday depict moose calves following their parents through human-developed areas in Jackson Hole. The Jackson Hole Land Trust shared a clip of a collared cow moose and her calf trotting through the parking lot at R Park in Wilson.

“Friendly reminder to keep your furry friends (not moose) on a leash!” Jackson Hole Land Trust stated alongside the moose video on social media.

Similarly, Instagram user @rockyvertone shared a video of a moose cow and calf strolling down the boardwalk on Broadway Ave. downtown, right past the Jackson Mercantile.

These two sightings come less than a week after a bull moose made a cameo through the People’s Market.

Remember that moose protecting their young can be extra territorial and likely to react to perceived intrusions by humans. Give moose a minimum of 25 yards of space, and even more distance when calves are present.
