ALPINE, Wyo. — Skywatchers had a very busy weekend.
Friday night brought the northern lights, and the Fourth of July brought copious fireworks. Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer caught an extra special sight on Saturday night from the Palisades reservoir: the Milky Way shining over the water, paired with a fireworks display.
Fireworks displays, both official and illegal, were frequent over the holiday weekend.
Sulzer noted Palisades pyrotechnics continued into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Stargazing is famously excellent in this part of Wyoming. Seeing the Milky Way is always a treat.
