JACKSON, Wyo. — Michael Kudar is running for Mayor in order to keep Jackson a healthy, safe, and economically strong community. If elected, Michael would be devoted to ensuring that our small businesses are healthy; our police, fire and search and rescue services are supported in such a way as to keep us safe; and that our taxpayers and residents are served and respected by their government.
Michael has extensive experience in small business, serving the tourism, agriculture, construction, and tourism industries. Michael would draw on that experience to ensure that Jackson retains its fiscal health while providing essential services to the citizens.
Michael has done it before — when he helped manage a company that provided wastewater solutions for the natural gas and construction industry, he gained recognition as leading one of the top-ranked locations in the country. He was recognized both for strong revenue growth and for safety efforts which resulted in zero OSHA recordables. Michael has shown in his business career that developing cohesive, productive relationships with individuals and teams is the key to achieving success.
Drawing on his leadership experience, “If I can successfully work on a $13M dollar budget with 70 employees, I can work on a $40M+ dollar budget with approximately 120 employees. I am ready to dive deep into all department budgets. We have to maintain a strong economy, and cannot assume that more taxes is the answer to every question. Every penny counts.”
Michael spoke recently about his view of the role of an elected official: to serve the people. “Are you choosing to publicly serve to make a job for you to hold you over, or are you dedicating your time for the love of our community? I am running as your mayor out of love for the community to dedicate the extra time it will take to be fiscally responsible while prioritizing daily essential program services to citizens. We must maintain the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens first. Salaries, stipends, wooden flower box planters fifth, sixth, seventh…”
When asked if he is for or against the “7th Penny Tax” ballot measure November 3rd Michael responded, “The Town Council was forced by the pandemic to amend the remainder of the FY2020 budget in April. My opponent prioritized a salary increase for herself and her colleagues during the depth of the pandemic. When our electeds prioritize their quality of life over yours, that is a fiscal red flag. If our current electeds could manage the budget more effectively to operate the essentials, why are they turning around and asking for tax increases? It doesn’t make sense to me. We can do better and work smarter. I oppose the additional 7th penny tax.”
