JACKSON, Wyo. — Before changing your party affiliation for the primary election on Aug. 16, consider one of the most important races on the democratic ballot, House District 23.

Candidate Liz Storer is “in it to win it” and needs your vote.

The seat is currently held by democrat Andy Schwartz, who is retiring and is one of only three contested races on the Democratic ticket. Storer is going up against fellow democrat Ryan Sedgeley. Republican Paul Vogelheim is running uncontested. For Teton County, it is vital to send a woman and a democrat to represent House District 23.

“I am the candidate who can win in the general election,” Storer said.

According to Storer, many of the problems that are afflicting Teton County are rooted in state policy and thus require state solutions. “Rapidly increasing property taxes, growth pressure and the related housing crisis, and the State of Wyoming’s efforts to develop state trust lands within a county that has high wildlife values – all have their roots in state policy.”

With over 35 years of advocacy experience in Cheyenne, Storer understands what it takes to create real policy change, especially in a state legislature dominated by republicans.

“I have a long history of bipartisan philanthropic and political work across the state, following in my grandfather’s and father’s footsteps.” That heritage and her public policy experience allow Storer to make the case for Teton County while working across the aisle to build alliances among legislators, many of whom she’s known for decades.

Storer has led her family’s foundation, the George B. Storer Foundation, for 14 years. The Foundation has funded conservation, education and civic engagement initiatives in Wyoming and elsewhere for more than 65 years.

Building on her decades of experience, Storer will address the issues that directly affect Teton County residents.

“Liz will fight for Wyoming women’s reproductive rights and access to healthcare,” said Dr. Giovannina Anthony, a practicing OB-GYN here in Jackson and a plaintiff in the lawsuit challenging the state’s abortion ban who is one of many to endorse Storer.

“Few people in the state know as much about its character, its strengths and weaknesses as Liz Storer,” say E. Annie Proulx, the author of Brokeback Mountain. “Few people have such a deep affection for Wyoming’s dust and rocks, its rarities and beauties as she does. And its history and politics. She understands the place, she gets it.”

“As the State of Wyoming relies increasingly on revenues from Teton County, our community should also have more of a say in our own destiny,” Storer said. “It’s time for Teton County to lean into Wyoming’s challenges and create lasting solutions that also address Teton County’s unique community needs.”
