VICTOR, Idaho — Pine Needle Embroidery in Victor caught fire on July 5, according to a release from Teton County Fire Rescue.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., Teton County Fire Rescue was alerted that two attached buildings were on fire in the 100 block of Aspen Street in Victor.

According to the press release by Chief Mike Maltaverne, the fire appeared to originate in the embroidery shop and threatened to spread to the adjacent storage building and attached single-family home. Fire personnel arrived from the Victor station within four minutes and 36 seconds, following the first 911 call.

According to Teton County Fire Rescue, a passerby stopped and pounded on the door of the attached single-family home, waking the sleeping family and safely evacuating them without injury.

“This quick action by one of our community members may have saved this family from serious harm,” Maltaverne said.

A second fire crew arrived from Station 1 in Driggs and the fire was successfully held to the area of origin and brought under control in less than one hour after the first report. The large amount of storage and equipment related to the embroidery shop required significant time and effort by firefighters to fully extinguish the fire, said Maltaverne. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

“Teton County Fire Rescue would like to acknowledge the heroic efforts and quick action of the passerby who called 911 and alerted the sleeping family of the fire. Our thoughts are with the business owner and employees as well as the family who was displaced,” the release states.

The fire is still under investigation at this time. Buckrail will update this article when the cause is determined.
