Convicted rapist will answer to two more cases from the 1970s Suburb House Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

Jackson, WYO – The Jackson Police Department has issued a phone scam alert in relation to a male subject using various names including John Mack, who has been calling Jackson residents and identifying himself as a deputy with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office.

He is then telling people they have missed jury duty and that there is a warrant out for their arrest. He then demands payment in the form of gift cards, the numbers of which he has the victim relay over the phone.

THIS IS A SCAM. The court does not conduct business in this fashion. While it’s true you may receive a call from the court and a warrant can be issued at the judge’s direction for missing jury duty, they will never demand payment over the phone via gift cards.

The Jackson Police Department is advising you to hang up on this person and don’t provide any personal details or give them money. If you’re not sure, contact the court. They will tell you whether you’ve missed jury duty and/or have a warrant.

For the record you can NOT get out of jury duty with a gift card.
