WYOMING — As Wyoming’s unemployment rate dropped slightly in May, Teton County continues to lead the way for the state’s highest unemployment claims.

Teton County’s jobless rate leads all 23 counties in Wyoming at 15%, according to the latest data from Department of Workforce Services. That’s down from April numbers which saw the county at 18.2%, but significantly higher than May 2019 when unemployment in Teton County was at a minuscule 2.9%.

Wyoming’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate dropped from 9.6% in April to 8.8% in May. That compares to a 13.3% unemployment rate in the U.S.

Niobrara County had the lowest unemployment rate in May at 4.5%. It was followed by Albany County at 4.9% and Weston County at 5.0%. The highest unemployment rates were found in Teton County at 15.0%, Natrona County at 11.7%, and Sublette County at 9.8%.
