TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — JHMR reported a record 595 inches for the 2022-23 season, which set the record for total snowfall in Rendezvous Bowl

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) wrapped up its winter season on Sunday, April 9 with beautiful sunny spring skiing to cap off a record-setting winter. JHMR reported a record 595 inches for the 2022-23 season, which set the record for total snowfall in Rendezvous Bowl. According to the Jackson Hole Avalanche Lab and the Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center, this season’s total just slightly surpassed the 2016-17 and 1995-96 winters, which boasted 590 and 585 inches, respectively. Consistency was the name of the game this winter with 41 days with six inches or more of new snow.

“On behalf of our owners, the Kemmerer family, our board of directors and our senior management team, I’d like to express heartfelt thanks to our guests and employees for a wonderful season,” said Mary Kate Buckley, president of JHMR. “The consistency of the powder days, the cold temperatures and the quality of the snow made for exceptional conditions through closing day.”

The snow started early and didn’t let up as JHMR opened the season with five lifts after a combination of early-season snowfall, persistent cold temperatures and continuous snowmaking efforts. They were able to operate as planned their 136-day season, opening the day after Thanksgiving 2022, and ran daily ski operations through April 9.

The Aerial Tram, Sublette Lift, Marmot Lift and Bridger Gondola opened on Dec 3, 2022. JHMR debuted the new Thunder Lift on Dec. 10, 2022, and according to Buckley cut riders’ lift time from over seven minutes to 3.6 minutes and the average wait time less than half of that in the previous year.

“It was especially gratifying to be able to deliver a great season for our loyal guests who come back year after year,” said Buckley.

With JHMR’s reservation system and limited capacity on the mountain for the third consecutive year, guests were able to gain greater mountain access with advanced ticket sales and required reservations for Ikon and Mountain Collective passholders. Due to the popularity of these practices, they will be continued in the 2023-24 season.

JHMR has decided to extend the 2023-24 season by an extra week to give skiers and riders guests a total of 143 days next season.

JHMR now looks forward to its summer operations with the Aerial Tram set to open on May 20 and the Bridger Gondola, Sweetwater Gondola, Teewinot Chairlift, Jackson Hole Bike Park, Via Ferrata and more opening on later dates.
