JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole has a strong community animated by innovation and hard work with an abundance of creative entrepreneurs, nonprofit champions, and community leaders.
On Wednesday, November 5, 2020, the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce selected seven outstanding businesses and individuals to be awarded the honor for the 55th Chamber Annual Awards. Winners were carefully selected from over 65 deserving nominations – more than the Chamber has received in any previous year.
Awards presented include the following: Wes Clarke for Citizen of the Year, Teton County COVID-19 Response with special recognition to Travis Riddell, Jodie Pond, and Paul Beaupre for Ride for the Brand, Anne Marie Wells as Rising Star, The Shine Group for Green-to-Green, Wilderness Adventure’s Jackson Hole Basecamp for Small Business of the Year, Roadhouse Brewing for Large Business of the Year and One22 for Nonprofit of the Year.
“This year, perhaps more than ever before, appreciation and recognition in our community are essential,” said Anna Olson, President and CEO of the Chamber. The Chamber accepts nominations throughout the year before a committee carefully reviews all nominations and selects the winners. This year, The Chamber received almost a third more nominations than in 2019, all businesses and individuals deserving recognition.
Nonprofit of the Year had not been an award category before the decision meeting on Wednesday. However, as the committee discussed, it became clear that a nonprofit should be recognized and selected was One22 for all they did for our community in the pandemic year.
Laurie Andrews of the Community Foundation, who sat on this year’s Annual Awards Committee, said, “This year, in particular, many nonprofits partners stepped forward and addressed our community’s most pressing needs. Early on in the pandemic, our community was severely impacted when we had to shut down to flatten the curve. One22 responded quickly by providing financial assistance to our most vulnerable community members to ensure they would weather the trying times. It is in that spirit that we are presenting the first Nonprofit of the Year award.”
