GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — While winter is coming to a close, it’s still possible to find snow high in the alpine, according to the Jenny Lake Rangers. Skiers and snowboarders should expect patchy snow and mud on almost all trails.

Grand Teton National Park’s search and rescue team shared in an Instagram post that “any travel above 8,000 feet currently requires skis or snowshoes. Foot travel alone will lead to significant post-holing and exhaustion.”

The rangers also informed hikers and backcountry travelers that the trail to Delta Lake is still under full winter conditions.

“Don’t let dry trailheads fool you,” the post reads. “Conditions change rapidly as you gain elevation. Be prepared with waterproof boots, trekking poles and proper flotation if you plan to head high.”
