WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. — Alta’s Jaelin Kauf won another national title Sunday in freestyle moguls at the U.S. Freestyle Championships at Waterville Valley Resort in New Hampshire.
Kauf was coming off of a silver medal at the World Championships in Bakuriani, and has been on a hot streak this season, focusing on her strength, speed and turns. Kauf beat teammate Olivia Giaccio 21-14 in the women’s dual moguls finals a day after winning the moguls title. Kauf was honored to finish one of her career-best seasons as a double national champion.
“It was really fun competing at Nationals and taking back-to-back wins!,” said Kauf. “I haven’t been able to compete at Nationals since 2019 and it’s such a great event getting to ski with all the younger athletes and bring our whole sport together in the US!”
It was Kauf’s fifth total national championship and fourth in a row. The U.S. team has one more local event at Snowbird at the end of the month, but that’s pretty much it for the season.
“So now time for some powder skiing hopefully,” Kauf said.
Congrats Jaelin!
