Jackson cinematographer Tristan Greszko a finalist in Vimeo’s Best of the Year awards

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Wyoming-based adventure photographer Tristan Greszko has landed a video in Vimeo’s Best of the Year 2018 Video Awards for his “Two Nineteen Forty Four”.

Greszko’s seven-minute masterpiece chronicles the record climb of Brad Gobright and Jim Reynolds as they broke the standing speed record on Yosemite’s El Capitan route the ‘Nose’ (formerly held by Alex Honnold and Hans Florine) with a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes, and 44 seconds—nearly four minutes faster than the Honnold/Florine 2012 climb.

The Nose speed record has changed hands a few times this past year as highlighted by this article in Climbing magazine. The current record time of 1:58:07 is held by Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell. Alex Honnold will be in Jackson on Jan 16 as part of the Mountain Story Fest, if anyone wants to ask him about the climb.

Gobright and Reynolds climb was fast for sure, but to make it easily digestible for today’s on-the-go society, Greszko makes smart work of time-lapse video. The result is a captivating film that showcases this record setting feat and is guaranteed to make your hands sweat while watching.

The contest is one like Vimeo has never before attempted. In celebration of 10 years of Vimeo staff picks the online video platform is boasting 7 categories, 21 judges, cash prizes and trophies.

“Two Nineteen Forty Four” is a finalist in the Action Sports category judged by professional surfer Stephanie Gilmore, pro skiers/filmmakers Tom Wallisch and David Mossop, and professional skateboarder/artist Stefan Janoski.

In 2007, Greszko co-founded Teton Artlab, a non-profit organization and studio space that supports artists through internationally-acclaimed residency programs in one of the world’s most unique landscapes, the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Tristan is also a line producer and digital marketing contractor for The North Face.

Greszko’s Tiny Jackson Hole has reached legendary status with several million views worldwide.
