JACKSON, Wyo. — On the hunt for some baby gear?
It Takes a Valley Perinatal Resource Collaborative and the Teton County Health Department are bringing back their free clothing and gear swap for maternity, infant and child sizes this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Community Fairgrounds Building. Members of the community can access free strollers, carriers, high chairs, toys and more at zero cost.
“Every Swap season, I’m reminded that the need is real and the generosity in this valley is even more real,” It Takes a Valley Executive Director Alli Lane said in the event announcement. “We’ve outgrown what we ever imagined this could be and we’re just getting started.”
New for this spring’s swap is an expanded donation drop-off window. Donations of gently used items will be accepted on Thursday, April 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, May 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the Saturday swap.
Unclaimed items will be offered to the Wind River Reservation’s Community Baby Shower, set for next weekend.
November’s swap brought out more than 600 families and 195 volunteers, per It Takes a Valley. The event strives to cut down on waste, with the last swap keeping a reported 11,000 pounds of gear circulating in the community and out of the landfill, plus 2,579 pounds of items donated to the Reservation.
