Crews are aiming for full suppression, using “natural barriers and open meadows to establish a direct control line toward Prospect Peak,” according to the update. BTNF notes that 122 personnel are fighting the fire. Hot Shot crews, helicopters and engines are all in use.

Closures near the fire are in effect as of Monday morning, and are expected to last until July 31 unless rescinded sooner. The closure starts at Forest Road 10389 (Horse Creek Road), continues south along the Forest Boundary to Trail 2080 (Maki Creek) to Forest Road 10653 (Nylander Road), and extends northwest along Forest Road 10125 to Lincoln County Sublette County line to trail 2053 (North Horse Creek Trail) and east to Horse Creek Road. Forest Service Trail 2080 (Maki Creek Trail) and FS Roads 10653 and 10125 are open.

Teton Interagency Fire is now rating the fire danger in the region as “moderate.” In a past press release, the agency defined a “moderate” rating as conditions in which “fires can start from most accidental causes. Unattended campfires and brush fires have potential to escape, especially on windy days, in dry, open areas,” Teton Interagency Fire shared in 2024.
