FREQUENCY: People watching card game is first of its kind Buckrail Buckrail Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Remember 2016 when all of Jackson Hole, the entire world in fact, was transfixed by the southwest corner of the town square? Anywhere internet was available, people sat in offices or at home glued to a livestream of everyday life in downtown Jackson.

NBC was just one of dozens of media outlets worldwide that took notice of a phenomenon that continues today. In a September 2016 news piece for NBC Nightly News entitled, “The Rise of Slow TV: In Jackson Hole, a Street Corner is All the Rage,” journalists attempted to explain to an uninitiated audience why so many monitored Jackson’s downtown—some from across the globe.

“For reasons we won’t pretend to understand, watching this camera has suddenly become something of a ‘thing’ on YouTube,” the commentator states, “with running commentary from viewers who seem especially pleased if a red truck goes by.”

And so a people watching sensation was born but that’s merely the beginning of our story. We present to you the first-ever livestream people watching card game called FREQUENCY.

Adam Roth has partnered with webcam provider SeeJH to transform the video feed into a cocktail party parlor game as addictive as just watching and commenting has come to be.

Here’s how it works

Help fund the launch on Kickstarter and enjoy cool swag.

Players hold their cards while watching an internet livestream, calling out for things resembling their cards. When a match is made, they triumphantly discard the matched card. Matching more than one card at a time, a “combo,” forces everyone else to draw another card.

Things get strategic in holding onto common possible combo cards—stuff savvy viewers know they’ll see often like people holding hands, a Subaru with a Thule rack rolling through, and, of course, a red truck.

The first player to get rid of all their cards is the winner!

FREQUENCY is tailored for the Jackson Hole livestream in Wyoming. The pace of this town and intersection are absolutely perfect for FREQUENCY. With all the neat activities Jackson Hole has to offer, there are a lot of cool things happening on this livestream. From dabbing cops to dog sled racing, you never know what you’ll see next. Or do you?

To claim victory, one must fully understand the FREQUENCY at which things will occur. Why do I spot fewer ladders late at night? Why are there so many strollers on the weekend? When did the last city bus come through? Being able to answer these types of questions will help you decide which cards to hold and which to let go.

Being live, it’s never boring. Each game is always different, completely mesmerizing, and infinitely replayable.

Tip: You can rewind the livestream feed up to four hours, so you can play well into the night. Game-makers are working on some great prerecorded feeds as well.
