MORAN, Wyo. — The National Weather Service’s Riverton, Wyoming, office (NWS) has issued a flood advisory for Pacific Creek near Moran, forecasting elevated river levels in the Snake River Basin.

NWS specified that the advisory affects Teton County, naming Jackson, Flagg Ranch, Alpine, Moran, Moose, Zenith and areas “below Jackson Lake Reservoir” as subject to high water levels due to rain and snowmelt. The advisory is in effect from Tuesday evening to Wednesday evening.

“Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely,” NWS states in the advisory.

NWS reports that the stage was observed to be 7.5 feet on Monday at 10:30 p.m., which is bankfull stage. The record stage is 8.2 feet, reached in June 2017, NWS said. If it hits 8.5 feet, flooding of an upstream campground on the right bank is possible. The service forecasts fluctuations in the stage over the next several days.

An update is expected on Tuesday evening. See the weather service’s flood safety website for tips.
