JACKSON, Wyo. — The 2026 Teton County Fair came to an end on Sunday evening, with the crowning of a new Figure 8 Races winner.
This year’s races had 36 entrants who were split up into six heats to kick off the event. To keep the event locally focused, drivers are required to live or work full-time in Teton County.
Drivers completed 12 laps in all races except the finals, which contained 20 laps.
The top three finishers in each of the first six heats moved on to future rounds, while multiple Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) rounds took place. Winners of the LCQ races also moved on.
Drivers maneuvered the dirt track and mostly tried to avoid crashing into other cars. A couple of runaway tires and lost auto parts had to be cleared from the track between rounds, as well as some cars that were knocked out of commission.
The crowd went wild as one car rolled over fully onto its roof, landed back on its wheels and continued driving in the race. Even emcee Jeff Moran announced that he didn’t remember ever seeing that happen before.
As is tradition, plenty of friendly wagering took place in the stands.
The final race included six drivers who had won previous races. The six finalists were: No. 1 Tim Hoff, defending champion No. 7 Jorge Meneses, No. 10 Wesley Hiltbrunner, No. 24 Pat Cunningham, No. 151 Joel Tate, and No. 711 Jacob Bentlage.
According to Teton County, Cunningham placed third, Hoff took second, and Hiltbrunner raced to the win.
