JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Health Department will have a drive-thru flu shot clinic twice next month for those over age 60.
In order to make receiving a flu shot as safe and easy as possible, Teton County Health will offer two drive-thru Adult 60+ Focused Flu Shot Clinics at the Senior Center of Jackson Hole on Saturday, October 3 and Saturday, October 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
High-dose flu shots will be available for individuals who are 65 years old and over, while supplies last. This year, the high dose flu vaccine is a quadrivalent flu shot that provides protection against four strains of the influenza virus. The regular quadrivalent preservative-free flu shot will also be available for individuals who choose not to receive the high dose flu shot. All flu vaccines will be preservative-free.
In order to maintain physical distancing, health officials are asking individuals to remain in their vehicles for the entirety of their appointment. Flu shots this year will be provided by appointment only. Appointments can be made by phone at (307) 732-8469 or online.
Symptoms will be checked upon arrival. Please do not attend if you are sick, and bring a cloth face covering to wear for the duration of your appointment. As a reminder, to administer the shot healthcare providers will need to access your upper arm via your car window to provide the vaccine, so please dress accordingly.
The Teton County Health Department can bill Medicare and other major insurances. Please bring all insurance cards including Medicare and/or your supplemental insurance card with you to ensure accurate billing occurs. Same day cash will also be accepted for those without insurance.
“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever and will help protect yourself, your family, and your community,” says public health response coordinator Rachel Wheeler. “A flu vaccine this season can also help reduce the burden on our healthcare systems as they are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and will save medical resources for the care of COVID-19 patients.”
Flu vaccines are also available at various locations including local pharmacies and other healthcare providers. Please call and check flu vaccine availability with your preferred provider or location.
