JACKSON HOLE, WYO – In response to a few inquiries about the decision to hold school today, Teton County School District shared the following information.
“Today we issued an early release for Kelly and Moran Elementary schools, as well as for middle and high school students who live in areas affected by the morning road closures north of town,” said TCSD spokesperson Charlotte Reynolds. “We were concerned that additional road closures would prevent us from transporting students home at the end of the school day. Most TCSD schools remained open as road closure conditions did not exist and were not anticipated in other areas of the county.”
Reynolds added, “We understand and share parent concerns regarding safety. Therefore, if a parent feels it is unsafe for their student to attend school due to weather conditions, and notifies us of the absence the school will issue an excused absence.”
TCSD also announced late today that Kelly and Moran Elementary Schools, as well as middle and high school students who live in Kelly, Moose, Moran and along North Spring Gulch Road, will be on a two-hour delayed opening tomorrow, February 5. This delay is intended to ensure Grand Teton National Park has sufficient time to clear roadways due to this winter storm system. Buses will pick up exactly two hours later than the usual times. All other schools will open on normal schedules. School will release at the normal time tomorrow.
